Tech Announces Nike As New Outfitter

Tennessee Tech will partner with Nike and BSN Sports next season.

Effective July 1, Nike will operate as the official outfitter of Tennessee Tech. Director of Athletics Mark Wilson said there will be opportunities for both student athletes and fans to wear the new gear.

“Tennessee Tech fans, they will be able to buy Nike apparel,” Wilson said. “There will be more Nike apparel offered through the university bookstore, but there will be a lot of apparel, sports specific apparel for each sport, offered twice a year for each sports program, for what we call My Team Shops offered through BSN.”

Tennessee Tech Soccer will become the first sport to wear Nike apparel under the new agreement. All other sports will sport Nike apparel, with the exception of football, with the transition complete by the 2026 college football season.

The agreement takes place after the athletic department issued a competitive request for proposal last summer.

“[Tennessee tech fans] will be able to buy that gear specifically for the sports that they want to wear on their T-shirts and sweatshirts and jackets.” Wilson said. “And that’s really exciting because most of the stuff we’ve done for Tennessee Tech branding has been generic.”

Wilson said Tennessee Tech overall has seen very little team-specific opportunities for fans of Tennessee Tech, something he says the university is excited to offer.

“Any university department or student organization can also get discounts through BSN with Nike apparel.” Wilson said. “So we will be rolling that out to the campus, making a notice to the campus and providing the contact at BSN where they can order through.”

The agreement marks the first agreement between major brands and Tennessee Tech University. Nike joins with BSN Sports, a Farmers Branch-based marketing company in business since 1972.

“We know that so many respective student athletes, they grow up seeing professional athletes…that all wear, you know, Nike and have worn Nike and now Tennessee Tech gets to be affiliated with that national brand and a great service provider in BSN Sports,” Wilson said.
