The State Supreme Court had denied a request by William Floyd Cartwright to examine his jury conviction for first degree premeditated murder. Cartwright was convicted in September, 2005 for the murder of Marvin Martin Jr. A co-defendant, Christoper Servo, was charged with facilitation of the murder.
