White County Commissioners hope to add some $1 million in annual sales tax revenue by adding a referendum to the August county general election ballot. Sparta Saves Nearly $700K On Water Department Generator

The city of Sparta saved north of $500,000 on a generator for the Sparta Water Department Thursday night. Sparta Mayor Jerry Lowery said the city bought the semi-truck-sized generator for some $73,000 from the city of Brentwood. Sparta Removes Homes From Sprinkler Requirement

City Of Sparta amended its city ordinance to clarify sprinkler requirements for residential dwellings. Codes Officer Mike O’Neal said the actual rules required sprinklers in all residential dwellings, but city officials had waived that for single family dwellings. White County’s Seeds of Hope plans on breaking ground on a new King Street facility next month.
