A Putnam County man arrested in Chattanooga Tuesday for felony murder and aggravated child abuse after a May incident. 28-year-old Justin Dixon was caring for two-year-old Atlas Copeland when deputies responded to the Copeland residence. Putnam County traffic stops over Thanksgiving weekend led to two drug arrests. The first stop occurred Wednesday that resulted in the arrest of Jamie Powell. Powell’s vehicle was found to have a felony amount of Methamphetamine and Marijuana. September Sales Tax Numbers Up Across Putnam County

September sales tax receipts grew by 12.7 percent across Putnam County over this same time last year. Some $4.9 million dollars collected compared to $4.3 million. Putnam County saw the largest increase with 20.6 percent. Baxter jumped up by 19.8 percent. Monterey went up 15.6 percent. Algood saw an increase of 14.0 percent.
