Cookeville Sets Record Highs In Residential Development In 2023

The City of Cookeville issued 309 permits for single-family developments in 2023, the most since the city started tracking this data. Some 16 months after the department’s creation, Director of Cookeville’s Community Development Department Jon Ward said the department has worked well. Cookeville City Council voted to create the department in 2022. White Co. Emergency Officials Cautioning Against Outdoor Burning

White County Emergency Officials asking residents to refrain from outdoor burning while dry periods continue. Fire Departments have been out all day Tuesday on brush or grass fires, vehicle fires, and structure fires. Putnam Construction Permits Slow Due To Material Costs

Building material costs have finally slowed down Putnam County construction permits. Mayor Randy Porter said July saw 26 permits for $3.3 million in construction costs, nine being single family homes. Porter said that last July had 44 permits for $6.1 million. Cummins Falls Gorge Permit System Goes Well

Cummins Falls Park officials raised the daily gorge access permit limit to 150 visitors. Permits Required To Hike Cummins Falls Gorge

A new permit system will limit access to the Cummins Falls gorge area beginning Friday. Permit carriers will be the only visitors allowed to hike to the gorge.
