Overton Schools See Drop In COVID Numbers After Extended Labor Day

Overton County Schools’ extended Labor Day break was successful in the opinion of Director of Schools Donnie Holman. Holman closed schools for two days on September 1st with 144 students COVID positive. The Jackson County School System has closed Monday and Tuesday as COVID cases and absences spread around the district. The Putnam County Household Hazardous Waste Facility will be closed on Tuesday, April 13. Solid Waste Director Doug Ashburn said this is due to the facility manager needing to leave for annual re-certification. Ashburn said it is simply a staffing situation for that date. Cumberland Co. I-40 East Temporary Closure

Temporary road closures are coming to I-40 East in Cumberland County tonight while permanent overhead signs are installed.
