Putnam August Sales Tax Revenue Up 12 Percent Compared To 2020

August sales tax revenue in Putnam County came in Tuesday 12 percent over the same month last year. The County saw the highest increase by about 23 percent. Algood followed with a growth of 18.5 percent, Baxter 15 percent and Cookeville 10.5 percent. Monterey’s revenue decreased by 3.9 percent. Putnam County construction settled down to a more normal pace in August. The county saw 26 permits for over $4 million in construction costs, with 12 of those being new single family homes. Automatic Gas Meter Pilot Coming To Cookeville

The Cookeville Gas Department will start testing automated gas meter readers for select communities in August. Gas department Director Jeff Mills said around 50 households will receive the new meter readers.
