The state will stop by Cumberland County Saturday to pick up your hazardous household waste.
Cumberland County Litter Supervisor Carrie Smith said the event comes to the Cumberland County Community Complex from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
“They do this every year just as a courtesy for Tennessee residents,” Smith said. “Otherwise they have to wait until next year to roll around in order to dispose their hazardous waste.”
Smith said there are no other county facilities that accept the materials. Smith said batteries, pesticides and cleaning fluids are the most common items disposed.
Smith said by participating, you avoid toxic chemicals from entering the soil and ground water.
