Sparta Knights Of Columbus Hosting Fundraising Fish Fry

The Sparta Knights of Columbus on Friday will host a fish fry for the public.

Program Director Pete Marino said the food will be for sale from 4:00 to 7:00 at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Sparta.

“We’ll have fried catfish,” Marino said. “We’ll have coleslaw made by one of our parishioners. French fries and garlic bread, and it will be $7 a plate. You can eat in or take out.”

Marino said all the food is homemade, and the fish is locally caught from Center Hill Lake.

“One of our parishioners regularly fishes Center Hill Lake, and he and his wife catch the catfish and fillet it and freeze it for us,” Marino said.

Marino said all the proceeds goes toward the charity initiatives of the group.

“We often times do a lot of work with Pacesetters in Sparta and work with mentally handicapped adults,” Marino said. “Unfortunately, they have not been able to have contact with people in the past year, so we hope to get back in contact with the organization.”

Marino said he encourages the community to come out to enjoy a delicious meal at a modest price.
