Smithville Man Charged With TennCare Fraud

A Smithville man has been charged with TennCare fraud after allegedly reporting to the state he had custody of his child to get benefits.

34-year-old Grant Lynch faces charges of fraud and theft of services. Both are class D felonies.

“Providing false information in order to receive TennCare benefits will not be tolerated in the state of Tennessee,” Inspector General Kim Harmon said. “Our agency works diligently to save both state and federal Medicaid dollars from being stolen.”

Lynch received some $2,800 in fees and claims on behalf of the child after claiming he had custody of the child.

The Office Of Inspector General led the investigation. The office has investigated more than 5,760 cases of TennCare fraud resulting in some $10.8 million in repayments.
