Silver Point Man Allegedly Strikes Semi, Arrested For DUI

A Silver Point man landed behind bars Tuesday for allegedly driving drunk.

The Baxter Police Department charged 72-year-old Roy Denton Lewis with driving under the influence.

Officer Brandon Herron responded to Elmore Town Road after a motorist reported a silver truck driving recklessly. Herron later made contact with a semi-truck driver who stated the same truck struck his vehicle.

The officer eventually located a silver truck with fresh damage and identified the driver as Lewis.

An arrest report indicates that Lewis had four marijuana cigarettes in his possession and handed over a bottle of Wild Turkey. Lewis also showed indicators of impairment on four field sobriety tests.

Lewis received citations for open container, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to exercise due care, and leaving the scene of an accident.
