Rumor Of Threat Causes Soft Lockdown At Monterey High

A rumor of a threat led to an hour-long soft lockdown at Monterey High School Wednesday morning.

Communications Supervisor Hannah Davis said a student reported the situation and the school’s administration, Student Resource Officer, and law enforcement took action.

“We went into the investigation process and deemed around 10 a.m. that the threat was not found credible,” Davis said. “It was actually a false threat.”

Davis said students’ safety is of the utmost importance to the school system. She said any time there is even a rumor of threat, it is fully investigated.

Davis said the school is out of soft lockdown and students are continuing on with their day.

“We just want to thank Monterey High School administration, the SRO officers, law enforcement for their really quick response,” Davis said.
