Remote Area Medical to Serve Fentress County in September

Remote Area Medical announced that the nonprofit organization will come to Fentress County this September.

This marks the first time RAM will bring its services to Fentress County.

RAM provides various medical services free of charge, including dental exams, eye exams, on-site prescription glasses, women’s health exams, and general medical exams. RAM does not require an ID in order to receive exams.

According to the U.S. Census, Fentress County’s poverty rate exceeds the national average at 21.4 percent.

One out of every eight people under 65 years old lacks health insurance coverage, according to RAM.

RAM will see patients on Saturday and Sunday, September 8 and 9.

Patient parking for the Fentress County RAM clinic will be located at South Fentress Elementary School.

The parking lot will open midnight on both days. RAM serves patients in chronological order with ticket distribution beginning at 3 AM.

Doors officially open at 6 AM each day.

RAM expects to treat approximately 500 people from Fentress County and the surrounding counties during the two-day clinic.
