Funeral Services for Mr. James Harvey Smith, 69, of Cookeville will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, July 14, 2018 from the chapel of Presley Funeral Home with Johnny Fox officiating. Burial will follow in Sand Springs Cemetery. Mr. Smith passed away Wednesday morning at his home. He was born on June 11, 1949 in Cookeville to the late Walter A. and Rittie Catherine Welch Smith. Harvey worked at Wilson Sporting Goods for many years before working for the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department for 10 years. He is survived by 2 sisters, Alberta Robinson and Linda Curfman; and a brother, Robert Smith and wife Alice all of Cookeville. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Smith; step-daughter, Stephanie Stover; brothers, Walter Jr., Eugene, Donald, Billy, Dean and Terry; and sisters, Hazel McBroom, Virginia Randolph and Reba Ligget. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00-8:00pm and again on Saturday from 9:00am until the time of services at the funeral home.

Funeral Services For Paul D. Gilpatrick, Age 81, Of Monterey, Tennessee, Will Be Conducted On Saturday, July 14, 2018, At 1:00 PM From The Chapel Of Goff Funeral Home. Rev. Jeremy Flatt Will Officiate With Interment To Follow In The Algood City Cemetery With Full Military Honors Provided By The Veterans Honor Guard. Mr. Gilpatrick Was Born On July 17, 1936, In Algood, Tennessee, To The Late George Madison And Dora Lee Gore Gilpatrick. Mr. Gilpatrick Passed Away On Wednesday, July 11, 2018, At The Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Mr. Gilpatrick Was Retired From Universal Plastics Where He Was A Graphic Art Designer. He Was A Deacon And Faithful Member Of Monterey First Baptist Church. He Served On The Monterey Health Board And Was Instrumental In Helping To Build Standing Stone Care And Rehabilitation Center. He Helped Organize The Monterey Little League. He Was A Member Of The Lions Club, The Shriners, And Was A Master Mason. He Was A United States Navy Veteran. He Is Survived By His Wife, Maxine Buckner Gilpatrick Of Monterey, TN; 2 Daughters, Trina Pierce Of Monterey, TN, Marisa Neely Of Nashville, TN; Son And Daughter-In-Law, Sonny And Sherry Gilpatrick Of Monterey, TN; Grandchildren, Abby Pierce And Kyle Gilpatrick; And Sister, Ruby Rundell Of Cookeville, TN. In Addition To His Parents, He Was Preceded In Death By 3 Sisters, Elsie, Ruth And Mabel; 2 Brothers, Everett And George; And Son-In-Law, Larry Pierce. The Family Will Receive Friends At Goff Funeral Home On Saturday, July 14, 2018, From 11:00 AM Until Time Of Services At 1:00 PM

A Celebration of Life Gathering for Garry M. Short, age 59 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, July 14, 2018 from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral home. Garry passed from this life Monday, July 9, 2018, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born Monday, September 15, 1958 in Cookeville, he was the son of the late James Short and the late Mazie (Bohannon) Eldridge. Garry enjoyed his motorcycle, horses and trading on anything. He was a friend to everyone that knew him. He is survived by: 1 Son: Christopher S. McNeilly-Short of Cookeville; 1 Sister and Brother-in-law: Diane and Lloyd Elrod of Baxter; 3 Brothers: Wayne Short of Cookeville, Ricky Short of Cookeville, and Randy Short of Cookeville. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his Wife, Deborah Jo Short.

Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Ruth Linder Smith, age 85, of Alpine will be conducted 2 p.m., Saturday, July 14, 2018 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. John Copeland will officiate. Burial will be in the Hancock Cemetery. Mrs. Anna Ruth passed from this life on Wednesday morning, July 11, 2018 from the Signature Heatlhcare in Algood. She was born in Overton County on May 4, 1933 to the late Claude & Bonnie Owens Linder. Anna Ruth was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Alpine. She loved college basketball and piecing quilts. Anna Ruth leaves her son, Kevin Smith of Alpine; granddaughter, Daniela Smith of Livingston; grandson, Drew Smith of Livingston; great grandchildren, Braxton Smith and Jaylen Cooper; sister, Jewell Linder of Alpine; and special cousin, Jerry Linder & wife Ann of Alpine. In addition to her parents, Anna Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Carver Eugene Smith. The family will welcome friends on Friday evening from 5 until 9 p.m., at Speck Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Billy Gene Prater, age 71 of Sparta, will be held at 3pm on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Paul Sherrell officiating. Burial will follow in Old Bon Air Cemetery. Bill passed from his earthly home on Friday, July 13, 2018 at his residence. He was born to Denton William and Winnie Pauline England Prater on September 9, 1946 in Fort Mountain. Bill served our country in the United States Army from 1968-1970 during the Vietnam War in the Black Horse Company. He received many metals including National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Metal with 2 Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal W-1960 Device, Purple Heart, 2 Overseas Bars, Sharp-Shooter M14, and Expert M16. Bill worked for General Shale-Sparta Concrete, IMI, Inc., White County Concrete. He loved his job driving for the concrete companies and meeting the people during deliveries. He enjoyed spending time on his family farm, logging, and fishing. His pride and joy was being with his grandchildren and their friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Paul Otis Prater. Billy is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ada Marie Young Prater, one son, Darrin Eugene and his wife, Tracy Mullican Prater. Three grandchildren: Denton Wayne Prater, John Darrin Prater, and Callie Marie Prater all of Sparta. Sister Carlena Bumbalough Walker and her husband, Jerry Walker of Cookeville. Sister-in-law Anna Ruth Brock Prater of Sparta and nephew Timothy Paul Prater of Lavergne. Sister-in-law Dolly Young Rice of Sparta, as well as many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 11am until time of the service at 3pm at the funeral home.
