Putnam Report Cards Delayed

Students in Putnam County schools haven’t received their report cards yet. Officials don’t know when that will be possible.

School has been out for a month but local officials are still waiting on state data to complete the report cards.

Putnam County Assistant Superintendent Denette Kolbe said only students in three grades have received their final report cards.

“The only grades that have received their report cards at this time are kindergarten, first and second, they are the non-tested grade levels across the state,” Kolbe said.

All other students take state-required tests, called TCAP. This year, those factor into the final grades for Putnam County students. The state has missed its own deadline for reporting the scores, Kolbe said. At this time, she’s not sure when the scores will be released.

“We sincerely appreciate the parents and the guardians’ patience with us, the parents that I’ve talked to on the phone have been so respectful and when I’ve been able to explain the process to them they’ve been very appreciative, they also want it to be accurate,” Kolbe said.

Kolbe said the TCAP tests are 10 percent of the second semester grade for students in 3-8. It’s 10 percent of the final grade for high school students.

Many graduating seniors weren’t enrolled in courses that required TCAP exams, Kolbe said. So their transcripts weren’t effected. Kolbe is working with the parents of those graduating seniors who were in the classes to get their transcripts.
