Scammers have cloned the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office telephone number.
A press release indicates that the scammers have used the number to attempt to steal from citizens.
The scam artists pose as law enforcement officers to steal personal information and money.
The Sherriff’s office has received numerous calls requesting information regarding warrants and unpaid fines.
County officials urge all citizens to not give personal information over the phone. The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office will not initiate calls to request payments over the phone.
