Portland Man Arrested After Vehicle Chase Monday

A Portland, Tennessee man faces a number of charges after leading Putnam County authorities on a vehicle chase Monday.

Cookeville Police have charged 28-year-old Randall D. Jackson with theft, simple possession of a controlled substance, evading arrest, and reckless endangerment.

Arrest warrants indicate that Jackson allegedly stole a white box truck and fled from authorities after being spotted on South Willow Avenue.

Officials said the chase continued to Interstate 40 westbound and ended near miler marker 277 when authorities used spike strips to stop the vehicle.

Jackson was arrested after fleeing into the woods. Police said a search of the truck revealed a pill bottle in the center console with a small amount of a green leafy substance that appeared to me marijuana.
