Pickett Receives Preliminary Feasibility Study Drawings For Bill Dance Project

Pickett County Commissioners have received the first renderings for the proposed Bill Dance Signature Lakes program.

That as part of the latest in the county’s feasibility study work. County Executive Stephen Bilbrey said they began surveying and exploring the property in early April to create preliminary drawings for the work.

“So now we will kind of start going through some stakeholder meetings, we will invite the public to come into kind of look at these preliminary drawings,” Bilbrey said. “Give them a voice to what happens down there. If they want to make changes, or see changes made, we definitely want the public’s input on this.”

Bilbrey said one version of the renderings showed a way to park up to 225 trucks and trailers near the Obey River Campground site. He said seeing the actual renderings makes the prospect feel real, and he is excited to see it continue to develop.

Bilbrey said there had been a lot of community buy-in thus far from residents, visitors, and business owners alike. He said while there are some who feel a little more reluctantly, he believes the stakeholder meetings will help them feel more comfortable.

“It is exciting, I think it will bring a lot of revenue to Pickett County,” Bilbrey said. “And just help all of our local businesses bring more people into their businesses.”
