PCSO And DA Office Investigating Friday Shooting, Victim In Stable Condition

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office investigating a Friday shooting that caused a Putnam man to be in critical condition.

Derrick Borchardt entered a verbal altercation with his friend Cody Spear. The incident became physical and led to Borchardt suffering a single gunshot wound to the face. He was life flighted that night to Vanderbilt Hospital but is now in stable condition.

Investigators believe alcohol played a role in the the altercation. Officials are working with the District Attorney’s Office to determine if criminal charges will be implemented.
