Monterey Man Arrested On Domestic Assault, Firearm Charges

A Monterey man faces charges after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend Thursday.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office arrested 55-year-old Doug Saylor for domestic assault and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

Arrest warrants indicate the victim told authorities Saylor had struck her at their residence earlier that morning and threatened to kill her if she called police.

The woman was able to leave the residence that evening after Saylor allegedly tried to hit her on multiple occasions.

Warrants state Saylor discharged a 12-gauge shotgun once authorities arrived on scene, stating he was shooting at a turkey.

A background check revealed Saylor had previously been convicted on multiple charges in Florida including robbery.

Saylor was taken into custody and transported to the Putnam County Jail where he remains under $11,500 bond. Saylor’s first court appearance is scheduled for July 22.
