Meadow Creek Park Gets New Changing Station For Visitors

Monterey’s Meadow Creek Park has completed a new changing station for visitors to the trails.

Upper Cumberland SORBA Member Heather Call said the structure comes as part of the group’s effort to develop a 13-mile trail around the lake. The two-room structure was installed this weekend.

“Mountain bikers, especially if they’re passing through town and coming off the interstate and coming out to eh park or even if they’re local people coming out,” Call said. “It is possible to get dirty, or sweaty, or messy, or you’re coming from work and need to change clothes. So that just gives people a little privacy to get cleaned up for their adventure or to get back on the road after their adventure.”

Call said the project was made possible thanks to a grant received by the Sunset Rotary Club. She said the process took about eight months from start to finish.

Call said Meadow Creek Park has so much potential to grow and become a popular destination for tourists and outdoor enthusiasts. She said SORBA will continue with efforts to make the park even more enticing to potential visitors.

“You know there’s a 90-acre lake as well as a trail system that’s being developed and I know the city of Monterey has some other plans that will really improve it and draw people to the region,” Call said. “Increasing our options for outdoor recreation si just such a cool thing.”
