Mayor Issues November Building Permit Report

The number of building permits issued in Putnam county last month almost doubled in number from the same time last year.

Mayor Randy Porter says the county issued a total of 23 building permits last month.

“In the past, November is not normally a very big month for permits,” Porter said in an email to county commissioners. “Last year in 2018 we only had 14 permits in November.”

The majority of the November permits were for new single family residential homes.

142 permits have been issued for almost $20 million in construction cost for the first five months of the fiscal year.

Porter says since January 2015, 895 single family residential home permits have been issued in the county.

“If you look at Cookeville City and Putnam County combined, its over 1,600 single family residential homes in a little less than 5 years, which is amazing to say the least,” Porter said.

The 23 permits issued last month totaled $3.6 million in construction.
