Man Arrested After Experiencing Medical Emergency In Monterey

A felony fugitive from Virginia has landed behind bars in Putnam County after experiencing a medical emergency on a Greyhound bus bound for New York.

Monterey Police arrested Travis Vandevander Sunday at the South Holly Street Hardee’s restaurant. Officers and EMS personnel responded to the location to assist a bus passenger experiencing breathing problems.

Officers identified the passenger as Vandevander, who refused EMS transport. A records check revealed that authorities in Virginia had issued warrants charging Vandevander with Larceny.

The officers arrested Vandevander and transported him to the Putnam County Jail for booking.
