Three Putnam County groups will travel to Kenya next month for a collaborative effort to make a global economic impact.
Flint Global is an international business incubation network. Founder Travis Trull said it is the first step in connecting the Upper Cumberland with the company’s efforts.
“Flint Global owns a social enterprise in Kenya where we make handmade, high-end jewelry,” Trull said. “We are also in the process of launching a entrepreneurship center. We really believe that bringing different communities together and entrepreneurs together sparks opportunity.”
Powered By Her, a community of entrepreneurial women, and the Biz Foundry will join the trip. Trull said a small team will visit Kenya for 10 days to explore the different business environments but also see fundamentals that are true across the world.
Trull was born in Kenya and spent many years in East Africa. Trull said the country is growing rapidly as a critical port location, but many people face extreme need for employment opportunities.
Trull said the ultimate goal is for all groups to learn from each other.
