Livingston’s BR Metal Products Expanding

Livingston’s BR Metal Products manufacturing facility is expanding operations creating about 30 new jobs.

Accounting Manager Brandon Roberson said the company has purchased two new machines for drilling and tapping aluminum molds.

“We have bought $180,000 worth of machines,” Roberson said. “We got them fully functionally. We actually have a couple of machines we have never had before to do things we have never done. Because of the machines, we are hiring new people.”

Roberson said the additional equipment allowed the company to add a second shift. Roberson said the company is looking to make another equipment purchase this fiscal year creating a possible third shift.

“We are going to spend probably half that, if not the same thing, this year,” Roberson said. “It is all going to be apart of the tax plan at the end of the year. We just had a production meeting and that was one of the things we were discussing.”

BR Metal Products was founded in Overton County and is an aluminum permanent mold foundry that specializes in high end commercial castings, electrical grid industry castings and furniture castings. Using in-house machinery, BR Metal Products creates castings, welding fabrications, metal product finishing and tooling.

Roberson said the Department of Economic and Community Development provided a $42,000 grant to help with the purchase of the machines.

“We have tried before to expand, and hire more employees,” Roberson said. “A lot of the people that we work with, as far as trying to get any credits or grants or any kind of involvement from the community, everything is always based off how many jobs you are going to produce.”

The company is transitioning its temporary employees to a full-time basis while offering benefits and increased wages. Roberson said the company is currently hiring.
