Know Your Home Dimensions When Buying Christmas Tree

The best kind of Christmas tree is one that also comes with memory-making.

That’s according to Sycamore Springs Christmas Tree Farm Co-Owner Lyna Pennycuff. She said that the perfect tree is one that’s picked by the whole family.

“The perfect tree for your home starts when you and your family come as a family outing and select it yourself whether you cut it yourself with our choose-and-cut. when you come to the farm we give you  a bow saw and a drag sled and you go up in the field and you select the one that you think looks the best ”

Pennycuff said that the most common mistake people make when buying a tree is not getting the proper size. She said that it’s best to come to a Christmas tree sale with the right dimensions of your home to make sure the tree fits.

“Know your ceiling height,” Pennycuff said. “You would be amazed at how many people come out in the fields or in our tree lot, they’ll see a big beautiful tall tree and they think, ‘Oh that’s what we want that’s what we need,’ only to get home and realize it’s a little bit big. So know the size that you need.”

Pennycuff said that while some trees can grow very tall, the average person will get a tree that’s around five to six feet tall.

Pennycuff said that after bringing the tree home, it’s important to keep it well-watered and maintained so it lasts through the season. She said though it seems obvious, be sure to keep the tree as far from a fireplace as possible.
