Jackson County TCAT Campus To Open Friday

A grand opening will be held Friday for Jackson County’s Tennessee College on Applied Technology campus.

TCAT Livingston President Myra West said the campus will offer programs in information technology and power line construction and maintenance.

“Those are two programs where there’s a pipeline needed for the workforce,” West said. “We are continuing to see more IT jobs. We know for the power line, which is a lineman program, that there’s not another program in the state of Tennessee, other than the one at TCAT Oneida.”

Anyone interested in enrolling in the new programs can visit the TCAT Livingston website.

“Our goal would be, as time goes on, to add other programs that would provide a workforce for the Upper Cumberland,” West said.

The Joe D. Barlow Workforce Development Building will be the first higher education campus in the history of Jackson County.

The board of education voted to name the building after Barlow, who has spent the past 15 years serving as Jackson County Director of Schools.

The grand opening for the TCAT Jackson County will take place Friday, October 5th at 11:00 a.m. The building will be located adjacent to Jackson County High School.
