Jackson County Amphitheater Awaits Bids

The Jackson County Amphitheater project continues to await bids.

Debbie Kinnard is the Vice President of the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce.

“We have reached out to several contractors,” Kinnard said. “And we are requesting bids from anyone who might be interested in bidding on it.”

The amphitheater project started with the help of a 48 thousand dollar state grant.

“But we are ready at this point to start the excavation and grating process,” Kinnard said. “And of course the concrete will be the largest part of this first phase.”

Kinnard said phase one of the project must be finished by December 31. The chamber needs a contractor that can work within that deadline.

Recently a grant from Tennessee Three Star awarded 25 thousand to the amphitheater, Kinnard said.

“We have received another grant to allow us to move forward with purchasing our sound equipment and getting the electrical installed,” Kinnard said. “That will actually be phase two.”

The amphitheater will be located a block off the town square and have the capability of seating about 100 people.
