HRS Will Take Next Steps With Hickory Valley

Highlands Residential Services taking the next step in its Hickory Valley development following the approval from the Putnam County School Board for a sewer easement.

The 69-acre site is set to include approximately 224 units near Cane Creek Elementary.

Director of Operations Chris Cassetty said to handle the current and future capacity needs, Highlands Residential was going to have to build a new sewer line. He said the line would require access to an easement located on Cane Creek Elementary’s property.

“It helps all three entities,” Cassetty said. “It’s a new and improved line that will help serve the school, it’s a new line that will better serve the city, and it allows us to have sewer capacity for Hickory Valley that we’re building now and again any future capacity that would be needed down there. So at the end of the day, it’s really a good project for everybody.”

Cassetty said the dirt work had already started at the development, and this next step helps to move the process along. He said the goal is to have the work completed by next spring.

“The state Department of Environment and Conservation has to give final approval to that and it’s at the state offices now for final approval,” Cassetty said. “And then we’ll start work and put it in at that point. We’ve got an existing contract with Rogers Group, and they’re waiting on that final approval.”
