Four Apply For Criminal Court Judge Vacancy

A total of four people applied for the criminal court judge vacancy in the 13th Judicial District.

Candidates for the vacancy include Rebecca Brady, Wesley Thomas Bray, Michael Shipman, and Jeffrey A. Vires. The Trial Court Vacancy Commission will interview the candidates when it meets May 21 at Tennessee Tech University.

The meeting will include a public hearing for anyone to express their opinions in opposition to the applicants. The commission will vote immediately following the interviews and forward three names for Governor Bill Lee for his consideration.

The seat became vacant when Judge David Patterson announced his retirement earlier this year.

The person selected to fill the position would run for election in 2020 in order to finish out the final two years of Patterson’s term.
