Former DeKalb Co. Correctional Officer Enters Plea To Official Misconduct

A former DeKalb County Correctional Officer has avoided jail time after being charged with official misconduct two years ago.

Authorities had accused 25-year-old Francisco Rodriguez of receiving money from inmates to smuggle tobacco and other items inside their cells.

Yesterday a judge handed down a two-year Tennessee Department of Corrections sentence all suspended to supervised probation.

Authorities learned of his actions after Sheriff Patrick Ray ordered detectives to begin an internal investigation into the matter.

Ray fired Rodriguez in December of 2015.
