Fitzgerald Reducing Workforce

Failure to repeal an Environmental Protection Agency rule has forced Fitzgerald Glider Kits to slash production by 90-percent by the end of the year, according to a report from the Upper Cumberland Business Journal.

The UCBJ reported Thursday that the company has begun reducing its workforce by the dozens.

The company’s Jamestown plant, which employs an estimated 25 people, has also closed as well, according to the article.

Fitzgerald director of government affairs Jon Toomey declined to give details on the number of individuals impacted thus far, sources have estimated at least 70 have already been let go.
