Findlay School Construction On Schedule

The weather hasn’t delayed construction of the new Findlay Elementary School in White County.

Director of Schools Kurt Dronebarger said Wednesday that he expects the facility to be open by August of this year.

“Things are progressing well,” Dronebarger said. “They have the majority of the masonry done and all the floors have been done so the community is getting really excited about it.”

Dronebarger said he met with officials from Lewis Group Architects and Christman Company to receive and update on the project Wednesday morning.

“The architects are doing a great job with the design and Christman Company is doing an excellent job with keeping on schedule amidst all the bad weather we have had,” Dronebarger said.

The new school will hold 125 more students than the current school. Dronebarger said that will help accommodate any future growth within the area.

“By building a brand new school, not only do we get a state-of-the-art facility, but we also get to utilize the old school as a central office facility,” Dronebarger said. “We’re really getting a lot of bang for our buck by building this new school.”

The old school will also house the alternative school and adult-ed programs.

The school system broke ground on the $10 million school in April of 2018. It will be located right next door to the current Findlay Elementary School.

Live footage of the construction process can be accessed via the Christman Company’s website.
