Fentress County Chamber has partnered with the Small Business Development Center to offer new business training opportunities to Fentress County.
Chamber of Commerce Director of Tourism and Membership Seth Vaughn said the Center approached the Chamber to offer local training. Vaughn said there will be multiple workshops tailored to individual needs.
“From energizing your business, to like I said, Quick Books or Canva, social media basics, how do you market your business in today’s social media world, etc,” Vaugh said. “So we really look forward to these workshops, they have been a great resource to businesses here in Fentress County.”
Vaughn said convenience is a driving reason for these workshops. Vaughn said residents will no longer have to drive an hour to Cookeville for training courses. Vaughn said the distance was inconvenient for him as well, as he would like to attend some events. Vaughn also said he appreciates the SBDC and their willingness to come closer to Fentress County.
“Sometimes there’s things that I want to attend, maybe further out than my close community has to offer and I don’t always get to participate,” Vaughn said. “So having these actually here in Fentress County will hopefully allow them to participate more frequently.”
Vaughn said workshops are also available online. He said he does not know much about it, but other chambers in the Upper Cumberland use the platform.
“I, myself have never used them but I’m sure that people who, like I said, can’t take time away from the day, maybe they can’t get away from the office or can’t get away from their shop, maybe they’re the only person who mends there shop and can’t close for an hour to attend said workshop, maybe they can do it after hours.
