Daniels: 258 Voted Early In Celina Election

About 258 Celina residents took advantage of the early voting period for the city’s election.

Clay County Election Administrator Wanda Daniels said there are about 1,100 registered voters in the city of Celina.

Also, those who own property in the city but don’t live in it have also submitted ballots by mail.

Mayor Willie Kerr chose not to run for re-election this year. Current alderman Charlie Goad and Joey Rich have turned in candidacy papers. Rich was a city employee who had to quit when he filed to run for mayor.

Four people are running for three alderman seats. Incumbents Henry “Buddy” Thompson and Donald Hasten are running. Tonya Spears and William Hill have filed to run for office for the first time.
