Daily Safety Inspections At Overton Fair

The Upper Cumberland’s fair season is well underway, with the Overton County Fair this week and the Putnam County Fair beginning next week.

Overton County Fair Secretary Bob Matthews said safety procedures at the fair are going on as usual.

“They’re inspecting the rides, we’ve done a walk-through, we’ll do another walk-through and talk with them, we’ll be doing walk-throughs every day to make sure everything’s correct,” Matthews said.

The carnival operator is James Gang Amusements, Matthews said.

James Gang employs a ride inspector that evaluates each ride each day, he said.

That’s one of the reasons the Overton County Fair works with James Gang Amusements, Matthews said.

“We try to be, we want everybody to be safe and the guys that own the carnival, that’s one of their priorities, is safety,” Matthews said.

Once the Overton County Fair finishes up, James Gang Amusements will move to the Putnam County Fair.
