Cumberland County County High School changing its traffic flow as the new school year begins to accommodate construction.
Director of Schools Billy Stepp said student drop-off and pickup are now on the Miller Avenue side of the building. He said buses will drop off and pick up at the front of the building.
“And that’s to avoid the auditorium construction,” Stepp said. “Because that’s blocked off several spots for students. So now students are parking on both sides of the building next to Miller Avenue and next to the football stadium.”
Stepp said at this time they ask for patience as everyone navigates the new traffic flow. He said they ask for everyone to watch out for pedestrians as they walk in and out of buildings.
Stepp said the safety of those on campus across the whole district is of the utmost importance. He said particularly at Cumberland County High School while construction is underway, they ask everyone to follow the plan implemented by the school administration.
“The teachers are super excited, I know all the educators are ready to go,” Stepp said. “We had a great convocation day where we brought all the employees together so that’s our bus drivers, cafeteria workers, educators, teachers’ assistants just about everyone and we had a good day there. And I was able to bring in coach Kelly Harper to kick off the year with teachers so that was a lot of fun and now they’re just excited to have kids in the building and classrooms and everyone’s ready to do the work.”
