Crossville Tree House Destroyed By Fire

The famous Crossville tree house burned to the ground late Tuesday night.

Firemen responded to the Beehive Drive location around 10:30 p.m. Officials said the massive blaze leveled the structure within 15 minutes.

No injuries occurred and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Horace Burgess built the 97-foot tree house in the 1990’s just off Interstate 40 in Crossville. He recently sold the property.

Once billed as the largest tree house in the world, the structure closed to the public seven years ago because of safety concerns.
