Crossville Hosting Fly-In Open House At Memorial Airport

The Crossville Memorial Airport hosting its annual fly-in and open house Saturday.

City Manager Greg Wood said participants can get an up close look at jets, helicopters and learn about airport operations.

“A lot of people don’t realize what goes on at the airport, and they just think it is folks that have their own private planes and it’s really not the case,” Wood said. “This is where a lot of business travel comes thru. A lot of people also just have never had the chance to look inside a cockpit.”

Wood said the $25 plane rides may be unavailable pending on the weather. Wood said if wind speeds exceed 10 mph, rides will be cancelled, but don’t let that stop you from attending. Wood said you can still tour the other static air crafts.

Wood said the planes come from all across the southeast region. The event begins 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
