Cookeville Regional has launched a new healthcare payment system for patients called Patient Financial Experience.
CRMC Communication Supervisor Hannah Davis said patients can access the payment system online by using a computer or mobile device. Patients can track medical bills and set up payment plans. Davis said that with the new system, patients can now text a patient financial representative if they have any questions about their medical bill.
“The patients are always top of mind for us,” Davis said. “So any way we can make their experience better from the healthcare setting to paying their bills when they leave here, that is basically what we want to do for our patients here. It’s about their experience and making things easier.”
Davis said the new payment system also allows parents to link their whole family to one account. Davis said having all of your family’s medical bills in one place simplifies things and relieves stress.
“I can speak as a mom of four that is a beautiful thing,” Davis said. “I can link all of my family to my PSX account, and I can see all of it in one spot, so I know exactly what is happening with my entire family.”
Davis said the new system will hopefully create access to better communication between patients and the patient financial team. Davis said the system may reduce the stress that comes with worrying about medical bills when receiving care.
“It’s stressful enough when you are going through medical treatments or whatever that looks like,” Davis said. “And the last thing that we want is the additional stress. It’s already stressful knowing that you are gonna be billed for something. To ease that, hopefully, we will see that ease up on our patients.”
Davis said the system is fairly easy to learn and that people who are not the most technologically advanced can use and understand the system. Davis said CRMC is offering assistance to those who may struggle to use the system.
