Couple Arrested For Leaving Puppy Inside Car

Crossville Police have arrested two people for allegedly leaving a puppy inside a car for several hours.

Officers charged 21-year-old Jaide A. Janow and 21-year-old William Keith Hayes with animal cruelty.

Authorities came in contact with the puppy on Monday morning after responding to the Economy Inn.

A police report said officers observed the animal to have shallow breathing and a foot injury caused by a spring trap inside the vehicle. Hayes told the officers he placed traps on the driver seat to deter anyone from stealing the vehicle.

The officer’s report also noted that the puppy struggled to keep its eyes open and had no food or water inside the car.

Police arrested Hayes and Janow after they admitted to leaving the puppy inside the vehicle overnight.
