Counties Given Ability To Move Through Vaccine Phases

The Tennessee Department of Health announced Friday that each county will be able to move through vaccine eligibility phases as they choose.

The vaccine had been available statewide to people age 65 and older and those in Phase 1c.

“As Tennessee continues working to protect those most at risk of serious illness and death from COVID-19 and provide vaccinations as quickly as possible, counties may progress through each of the phases as vaccine supply allows,” a department spokesman said in a news release.

Denny Wayne Robinson is the County Executive for White County. Robinson said he plans to take advantage of the tool as long as state leadership provides guidance.

“As long as they give me the information, so I know who is getting vaccinated, who is not and what the statistics are,” Robinson said. “I would be happy to make that decision. They need to give me the information if they are going to give me the responsibility.”

Robinson said White County will begin vaccinating 55 year old and plus residents Monday.
