Cookeville PD Looking To Purchase New Radar Units

The Cookeville Police Department hopes to have some new radar units in the near future.

Police Chief Randy Evans said he plans to ask city council for permission to purchase eight units during Thursday night’s meeting.

“The bulk of the expenditure is from a THSO (Tennessee Highway Safety Office) grant that you all (city council) approved last month,” Evans said. “We will have to spend some of our operating money out of our small equipment money. But the grant will pay for for $10,496 and then we’ll spend $1,358. It’s a total of $11,854.”

Evans said each moving radar unit will cost $1,900 and come with interconnect cables.

“The intent is to actually purchase six Stalker Dual Ka-Band Moving Radar Units,” Evans said. “There’s actually a promotion going on right now where we get two free. So we’ll actually get eight for the price of six.”

The Cookeville City Council meets Thursday at 5:30 p.m. inside city hall.
