Cookeville Officer Involved in Friday Morning Crash

A Cookeville officer escaped injuries after crashing his patrol vehicle during a Friday morning pursuit.

Authorities charged Mary Elizabeth Dunn with evading arrest, reckless endangerment, and driving on a revoked license.

Crash reports indicate that Dunn was evading Officer Christopher Micheal Melton while traveling north on Highway 111.

Dunn then turned right onto Officer’s Chapel Road. Melton exercised legal intervention by striking the left rear of Dunn’s Honda Civic.

The Civic spun and swerved off to the left of the roadway. The vehicle came to a final rest in the ditch.

The patrol vehicle stopped in the roadway.

Putnam County officials additionally charged Dunn with possession of a controlled substance, introduction of contraband into a penal institution, and criminal impersonation.

Authorities booked Dunn into the Putnam County Jail on a $30,000 bond.
