Cookeville Budget, Utility Purchase Approved

Cookeville City Council approved the 2020-2021 budget on second reading Thursday night. The budget totals $29.656 million in expenses. That’s an increase of roughly $500,000 from the current fiscal year. Revenues are budgeted at $29.119 million. The property tax rate remains at $0.99. Disaster Zoning Ordinance Passes Cookeville Council

Cookeville City Council approved a Disaster Declaration Ordinance for the planning department. The ordinance gives the planning department the ability to extend planning deadlines for six months during a proclaimed disaster or emergency. Dogwood Park Fountain Opening Saturday

The water will again flow at Cookeville’s Dogwood Park fountain on Saturday. The attraction will resume its regular schedule 7:30 am to 10pm daily.  Woods said the water is treated and filtered just like water in a swimming pool.
