Byrdstown Starting Monthly Car Show

The town of Byrdstown will try to increase tourism by starting a community car show.

Mayor Sam Gibson said the car show will happen one Saturday a month in the parking lot across town hall on West Main Street.

“It will get a lot of people into Byrdsdtown,” Gibson said. “That is the idea behind it to bring as many people into town and get them familiar. If they come in and like it then they will come back. They will eat and spend some money here.”

Gibson said former town Mayor Chris Thompson will oversee the car show. Gibson said the monthly event will be a perfect fit with the Gulf gas station restoration project happening in the same lot.

“We still in the process of finishing the restoration,” Gibson said. “We are going to have a museum part in the back. We are going to have old vehicles in there.”

The gas station is being restored by the town employees. Gibson said the first show does not have an official date.

The Byrdstwon City Council approved the monthly car show during Monday’s meeting.
