Business Owners Invited To Workforce Meeting Wednesday

A strategic planning session for workforce and economic development takes place in White County Wednesday.

County Executive Denny Wayne Robinson said the event will detail available programs and funding opportunities for local business owners.

“These programs are here to make our local businesses thrive, and often they go unused because we don’t know about them,” Robinson said. “This is a chance for everybody to get the information all at once.”

Robinson said a majority of the meeting will focus on workforce development and helping business owners find employees.

“Becky Hull, the local workforce director, will be here with her staff to discuss programs that are out to help find employees…tax incentives for hiring a certain criteria of people and veterans coming out of the service looking for jobs,” Robinson said. “There are several programs out there that help employers find employees, and that’s going to be the biggest part of the meeting.”

The meeting will also feature presentations from the Tennessee Valley Authority, Upper Cumberland Development District, and State Department of Economic and Community Development.

Robinson encourages business owners from across the Upper Cumberland to attend the meeting from 10 a.m. to noon at First National Bank in Sparta.
