Bleachers Purchased For Livingston Academy Renovations

The capacity of the Livingston Academy football stadium will be 2,703 seats as the school board has purchased the new bleachers for renovations.

Chairman Mike Hayes said due to time constraints, the purchase comes through a state approved vendor to bypass the bid process.

“In a normal situation, you would have the bid out for the general contractor to do everything, but with the supply issues we have going on now, the bleachers are going to be a six-month lead time, so we had to go ahead and get that approved before we get the general contractor bid approved,” Hayes said.

Hayes said the bleachers came in about $84,000 over budget with a some $1.1 million price tag. Hayes said securing seating was a top priority to have the stadium ready for the next football season.

“The whole scope of it still to be ready for August of next year and to play there,” Hayes said. “Obviously, our top priorities are the bleachers, the scoreboard. Obviously, the field is not going to be touched but having our kids to play their home games next year is our top goal.”

Hayes said the majority of the home side will be bench seating with sections for reserved chairs and ADA compliant seating. The school board approved a powder coating of the bleachers with the purchase to extend its life.
