Baxter Man Charged With Attempted Second-Degree Murder

A Baxter man has landed behind bars for allegedly stabbing his brother.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office charged Ricky Lynn Wade with Attempted Second-Degree Murder. He remains behind bars on $100,000 bond.

The alleged crime happened Sunday at a home on Walnut Road in Baxter.

Warrants stated that Wade admitted to stabbing his brother numerous times with the intention of killing him. The victim, identified as James Wade, received treatment at an out of town hospital.

Sheriff’s office officials said Tuesday that they expected Wade to survive his injuries.

According to the warrant, the incident occurred after Wade’s mother told him to leave the residence. Wade told investigators that he went to pack his things and came out in the hallway where his brother swung his right hand at him and missed.

Wade proceeded to retrieve a white knife from his pocket and began stabbing the victim numerous times, according to the report. He allegedly stated that the only reason he stopped stabbing the victim is because his mother called the police.

The warrant has Wade’s court date scheduled for December 9.
