Traffic Stop Lands Crossville Man in Jail on Meth Charges

Late Tuesday night, while executing a traffic stop, Cumberland County sheriff’s deputies observed the driver – Joseph Robert Altum, 23, of Crossville – acting overly nervous. Crossville City Manager Gives Update on Tax-Collection Figures

Crossville City Manager Greg Wood presented his monthly sales tax-collection report at the City Council meeting Tuesday night. Overall, sales-tax revenues have been good, he reported. Sales-tax revenues for September were down slightly from August, at $692,879. Wholesale beer-tax income is off a little from projections, coming in at just over $64,000 for September. Traffic Stop Nets Two Arrests on Meth Charges

Monday night, Cumberland County deputies stopped a vehicle along the 400 block of West Creston Road. The driver, Wesley Vance Sherrill, age 33, of Crossville, was placed under arrest for outstanding warrants and driving on a suspended license. Responding to a tip, Cumberland County sheriff’s deputies seized several marijuana plants from a Crab Orchard residence Monday.
